The Lao PDR enjoys concessions such as preferential market access and commodity trade preferences granted by the United Nations. Fifty-seven countries and territories around the world have listed the Lao PDR as a beneficiary of their Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), granting the Lao PDR preferential tariffs and quotas on commodities, including the EU Member States, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, China, and the Republic of Korea. Among them, the EU has given Laos the highest level of preferential treatment (EBA), i.e. tariff-free and quota-free access to the EU market for all Lao goods.

With the completion of ASEAN-China FTA, ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership, ASEAN-Korea FTA, ASEAN-Australia and New Zealand FTA, Laos as an ASEAN member country will enjoy preferential tariffs and trade incentives granted by other Asia-Pacific countries.

As a member of the WTO, the Lao PDR will enjoy the most-favoured-nation (MFN) status granted by other member countries, which is conducive to the better integration of enterprises into the international market, and the entry into force of the RCEP will increase the intra-regional people-business exchanges of the Lao PDR, attract more foreign investment, and bring a broader trade market for Lao products.
